Mehwish Hayat responds to negative views of the people on her being Awarded. Since Mehwish received a number of negative comments on social media because of the award she was honored with, the “Tamgha-i-Imtiaz” for her best performance in the film industry.
In response to that Mehwish says that being in the showbiz industry, we have not forgotten our moral values. She says that she is happy the people started sharing their views on it, said on the #MeToo movement.
She comments that “Harassment is everywhere and in every industry,”. “I am at a position where people may think 10 times before doing or saying anything (immoral). But, there are so many other women who aren’t as lucky.”
She added that a group of folks who criticised me. “There were some people who asked what have I done for the country and how many wars have I fought.” They didn’t realize that I am an artiste and I got the civil award for my category, social media is important but it can be very lethal and affects everyone”. “There are no checks and balances,” she expressed.
“People don’t realize that the work we do is very difficult.” They just look at the final product which looks very glamorous, said Hayat, who added that people don’t know that a lot of hard work goes into acting. “I have been very lucky that my work got noticed,” she said.
To those who ain’t aware of Mehwish Hayat, know that she is a Pakistani actress, singer and model who has performed in films like Na Maloom Afraad, Jawani Phir Nahi Ani, Actor in Law, Punjab Nahi Jaungi and Load Wedding and has sung songs like Tu hi tu and dil saab dil baabu and performed in coke Studio as well. She is also playing role in the next project, Chhalawa. Its trailer will be released on April 21st.
