Faakhir Mehmood is a well-known name in the Pakistani entertainment industry, having worked as an actor, singer, keyboardist, composer, and music producer. Following these attempts, he established the band known as “Awaaz.” In the band, he was responsible for playing the keyboard.
Faakhir went solo when the band broke up in the year 2000. Faakhir’s first single, “Dil Na Lagay, Pakistan,” was released in August of 2000 from his first album, “Aatish”, which became a massive hit in the 2000s. Soon after, in 2003, he released “Sub Tun Sohniyeh,” and in 2005, he released “Mantra.”
After reaching the pinnacle of success, he temporarily stepped away from music to focus on his career and family. In 2011, he returned with a new album titled “Jee Chahe.” He was one of the producers of the “Ho Mann Jahaan” soundtrack in 2015.
Bollywood Debut of Faakhir Mehmood
Faakhir sang a duet with Indian singer Sunidhi Chauhan on the song “Jiya Na Jaye” from the film Mantra. Two of India’s Sangeet Natak Akademi Awards were given to the album’s track “Mahi Ve.” At the same event, he performed.
Coke Studio Debut of Faakhir Mehmood
As one of six music directors for Season 9 of Coke Studio Pakistan in 2016, Faakhir contributed significantly to the show’s success. He made his debut in a raw rendition of “Afreen Afreen” by Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. The song features vocal performances from Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and Momina Mustehsan. When he returned to Coke Studio, it was to sing a Pashto folk song called “Dilruba Na Raazi” alongside Zeb Bangash. When he and Natasha Khan performed “Dil Kamla,” it was a big deal.
