Leo Twins, Pakistani brothers Haroon and Sharoon Leo, are Pakistani musicians playing multi-instruments and performing as a musical duo. They were born on July 27, 1993. They’re brothers; thus, they kept their band name Leo Twins. Rawalpindi is a city in Pakistan’s Punjab province where these two twins were born.
They are a frequent house band member on the Zulfiqar Jabbar Khan program Nescafe Basement. Nescafé Basement is a Pakistani music television program that airs live studio recordings of unsigned musicians performing their songs. They started performing on Nescafe Basement during its third season after studying music at the Punjab College of Information Technology.
Early Life of Leo Twins
They are known as the Leo Twins, and they were born in Rawalpindi, Pakistan, to Christian parents who enrolled them in the Punjab College of Information Technology when they were young.
From Rawalpindi, with boundless enthusiasm, come “Leo Twins” Haroon and Sharoon. Although they got their starts modestly, they’d been exposed to their older brother Asher Sidhu, a “full artist,” ever since they were little. Asher is a talented musician, painter, and art curator who plays tabla during church services.
The awe with which his younger siblings speak of him demonstrates the profound impact he has had on their being. As chance would have it, at the tender age of sixteen, they stumbled into a music store on a mission to get their cell phones mended. Instead, they sold their cell phones to cover the 1600 required for the down payment on a guitar; both purchased via a payment plan.
Leo Twins Musical Training
They fondly remember the day they went to see Ustad Idrees Ahmed Khan, who, after seeing their enthusiasm, agreed to teach them music.
It was important for the twins to take the time and endeavor to learn from an Ustad, even if it was initially difficult. Leo twins place great importance on maintaining the Ustadi-Shagirdi lineage of their music. It was a challenge that all artists eventually faced. However, Ustad always stressed that “the technique may be learned, but the spirit only comes via this hard training.”
The boys’ sense of modesty facilitated their rapid intellectual development. Haroon started out playing the tabla, which is revered as the “mother of all instruments” in his community, before expanding his musical horizons to include the guitar, rubab, piano, Cajon, ukulele, mandolin, darbuka, and a variety of percussion instruments. He also became an accomplished tabla player.
The career of Leo Twins
Season 3 of Nescafe Basement was the beginning of their professional careers. The older brother, Sharoon, plays the violin and cello. In comparison, Haroon’s younger brother plays over a dozen instruments, including guitar, rubab, tabla, piano, cajon, ukulele, mandolin, and darbuka. Leo Twins often uploads new instrumental versions of cover songs and original compositions on their YouTube channel.
Music legends Atif Aslam, Meesha Shafi, Call (band), Momina Mustehsan, and Rahat Fateh Ali Khan are just a few artists that have collaborated with Haroon and Sharoon Leo. They also performed in the team’s anthem, Hum Zalmi, used by the Peshawar Zalmi team of the PSL. After the release of Leo Twins’ cover of the Diriliş: Ertugrul soundtrack, the Turkish drama attracted viewers from all over the globe.
Leo Twins Debut in Nescafe Basement
In 2016, they uploaded their very first homemade video on YouTube, which included an instrumental performance by an amateur band. Xulfi found this video from Call, who was producing Nescafe Basement Season 3 at that time, and he was really pleased by the ability shown in the film. They eventually became a permanent member of the musical group. As a result, they were given a chance to play various instruments for some of the most inventive performances. The rest, as the saying goes, is past.
