Shehzad Roy Speaks In The Favor Of Mehwish Hayat!

Shehzad Roy speaks in the favor of Mehwish Hayat and all independent and strong women who deserve appreciation, in a recent post on twitter.

Supporting Mehwish Hayat for her award, “Tamgha-i-Imtiaz”, that recently she was honored with, for her best performance and acting, Shehzad Roy says people waste no opportunity to tear down women.

In a current post on twitter, Shehzad Roy, writes that, “People waste no opportunity to tear down the Arts & women in PK. So of course if a woman wins an award in Arts,all hell wud break lose.U @MehwishHayat won the debate tht followed & created an enabling enviroment for women from arts to come fwd.& when they do,trolls wil think twice”. This was written by him in response to the post shared by Mehwish that, “It is so refreshing to see that sane voices still prevail. I think that this is a watershed moment. The industry needs to come together and fight this abuse that we are all subjected to. Lets make something good come from it.”

Mehwish shared on Instagram that, “Debate all you like whether you think I deserve the award. Everyone is entitled to their opinions. I respect that. However, I draw the line when my character is questioned. I’ve been called a tawaif, a slut, a whore & much more so often that it has stopped affecting me”.

Shehzad Roy is one our famous Pakistani singers. He is an activist, social worker and humanitarian. He started singing in 1995. He has given numerous popular songs such as “Kangna”, “Saali,” “Teri Soorat” and Qismat Apney Haath Mein etc.

Ali Zafar also supported her and responded to her post as: “Agreed. This reprehensible culture of name calling on twitter has got to stop. A platform created to give a voice to the voiceless and disseminate useful information is now also flourishing as a source of unchecked abuse.”
