Shuja Haider is a vocalist, songwriter, composer, music director, and record producer in Pakistan. He has worked in the music industry since 1995 and has several skills. He has collaborated with artists like Strings, Zeb and Haniya, Ahmed Jahanzeb, Haroon, and Shoaib Mansoor. His wife is Amber Shuja; he now has 3 beautiful children: two daughters and a son. Similarly, his sibling Vicky Haider is in the music industry as a producer and composer for TV and film. Even though he idolized his grandfather, a pianist, he wanted to be a cricket player, but fate led him instead to the piano.
Several artists have impacted Haider’s work, including Sting, Coldplay, Henry Mancini, John Williams, and Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. He is profoundly influenced by the music of the Bee Gees, the Carpenters, Queen, Abba, and The Beatles.
Shuja focuses on how being near composers such as Bakhshi-Wazir benefitted their education and says, “It’s a stroke of luck that I overheard them composing music. I learned song structure, dynamics, and speed from eavesdropping on their performances.” Shuja Haider considers Gustavo Santaolalla the best composer.
Early life and Background of Shuja Haider
Shuja Haider is the youngest of four children born to singer-musician Sajid Ali (1950-2022) in Lahore, Pakistan.
His grandfather Master Sadiq Ali (1935-1984), was a legendary Pakistani pianist who was known as
“the master pianist of the subcontinent.” At age seven, Haider began dabbling in music after being exposed to a wide variety of musical styles from throughout the world during his formative years. However, sports remained his primary passion. From a young age, he was motivated to pursue a career in cricket by the likes of Wasim Akram, Javed Miandad, and Imran Khan.
Haider’s family moved when Karachi, Pakistan, became a cultural and creative center for young musicians from all over Pakistan due to the invasion of pop music and TV music channels. Haider settled on a profession in music; he was particularly drawn to songwriting, composition, and production. He spent considerable time learning the ins and outs of digital music creation, a relatively new technology.
