Richa Sharma moved to Mumbai in 1994 to pursue her dream of becoming a professional singer. Like many aspiring playback singers, she initially faced the challenges of establishing herself in the competitive Bollywood music industry. She performed cover versions and bhajans while continuing to work toward opportunities in film music. Her Bollywood playback debut came with Salma Pe Dil Aa Gaya in 1996.

One of the important highlights of her early career was “Mahi Ve” from Kaante. The song became a popular Bollywood number and earned Richa Sharma the Bollywood Movie Award for Best Female Playback Singer in 2003.
Her versatility was further demonstrated through songs such as “Kal Ho Naa Ho (Sad Version),” “Tauba Tauba,” “Billo Rani,” “Jag Soona Soona Lage” and “Maula Maula.” These songs continue to be among the better-known recordings associated with her name.
