Bohemia, real name Roger David, is a Pakistani American songwriter, lyricist, and record producer from California who is widely recognized as the pioneer of the Punjabi rap genre.
In 2001, at the tender age of 22, Roger David embarked on a career as a musician, singer, and songwriter. He rose to the top of his field in a short time, wielded considerable influence, and became widely recognized for his accomplishments. In due time, he reached the pinnacle of his career and had come full circle. As a result of his show, Roger David became well-known not just in the United States but worldwide.
Early Life of Bohemia
Bohemia was born in Karachi, Sindh, on October 15, 1979. He uprooted his life and was settled in Peshawar for initial seven years of his life. He completed his primary education there in Peshawar as well. He dropped out of school and immediately enrolled in a Sacramento music studio, where he began his career as a professional musician. The family uprooted and headed west when he was around 14 years old. Very early on, he started taking lessons in music from his father and, at the same time, began penning poems in Punjabi. His father worked for Pakistan International Airlines.
Even before he turned 15, the Punjabi rap star lost his mother. He owes gratitude to the creator of music for awakening and giving him a purpose in life. Because his father was a musician, he picked up keyboard skills.
Bohemia got married to Sunny David in 2017 and is now living a successful life in Bahrain.
Bohemia Career
He toured the United States and Canada with the band. After that, he moved to join his cousin in Auckland, who was working in the music studio. Shaw, a hip-hop producer, was one of the people he introduced him to. He heard Bohemia and urged him to sing it on his beats. Over time, he came up with the words and melody for his first solo single, “Wich Perdesan de.” Paisa Nasha Pyar, the next album, was the first full-length Punjabi rap album published by a major label. It was recorded and produced by Shaw One and Bohemia in his hometown of Auckland Studios.
Shaw’s English hooks were incorporated into the album’s Bohemian Punjabi vibe, and the recording took nearly two years. Raja followed that up by inking a multi-album contract with Universal Music Group. As of that moment, he had officially entered the workforce. His third album, 2010’s ‘Da Rap Star,’ also received widespread acclaim.
Sony Music India signed Bohemia in May of 2012. They use the association’s management system for album releases, tour promotions, and concert productions. His fourth album, titled “Thousand Views,” was released three months later in September 2012.
Bohemia’s discography includes songs performed by Sonu Kakar and Jamaican-American singer Sean Kingston. Its record label, Kali Denali Music, was established in 2015. Bohemia’s most recent studio effort, Skull & Bones, was released in 2017. The first song, a remix of one of their unreleased tracks titled “Sandisa,” was released on July 26, 2018, in anticipation of the album Skull and Bones (volume 2).
Bollywood Debut of Bohemia
He starred alongside Akshay Kumar and Deepika Padukone in the Warner Bros film.
“Chandni Chowk to China,” for which he also sang the film’s theme song. A few months later, he recorded the title song for “8 x 10 Tasveer”, another film starring Akshay Kumar. For Akshay Kumar’s debut in Hollywood with Breakaway, he composed and gifted a song to the actor in 2011. To help set the stage for Sanjay Dutt’s cameo, Bohemia provided a vocal performance for the film “Desi Boyz.”
