Abrar Ul Haq is one of Pakistan’s most recognizable Punjabi pop and bhangra singers, songwriters and philanthropists. Known for his energetic performances, catchy Punjabi lyrics and distinctive voice, he has remained an important name in Pakistani popular music since the 1990s. Over a career spanning more than three decades, Abrar Ul Haq has successfully connected traditional Punjabi musical influences with mainstream pop, producing songs that became popular across Pakistan and among South Asian audiences worldwide. Born on 21 July 1969 in Narowal, Punjab, Abrar Ul Haq initially pursued an academic career before making music his profession. His breakthrough came in 1995 with the album Billo De Ghar, which transformed him into a household name and established the musical identity that would define much of his career. His ability to combine Punjabi culture, humour, romance and energetic rhythms made him stand apart from many other singers of his generation. Abrar Ul Haq's Rise to Fame The release of “Billo De Ghar” was a turning point in Abrar Ul Haq's career. The song became a defining Pakistani pop hit and helped introduce his unique style to a huge audience. He subsequently released popular albums and songs that strengthened his reputation as one of the leading Punjabi pop and bhangra artists in Pakistan. Abrar Ul Haq and Coke Studio One of the significant later chapters of Abrar Ul Haq's musical career has been his association with Coke Studio Pakistan. He performed “Ballay Ballay” with Aima Baig in Coke Studio Season 11 and later appeared with “Billo” in Season 12. These appearances introduced his classic Punjabi sound to a contemporary production environment and helped bridge the gap between the original generation of Pakistani pop stars and younger listeners. Recent Music and Latest Releases Abrar Ul Haq has continued to release music rather than relying only on his classic catalogue. In 2025, he joined Ali Zafar, Talha Anjum and Natasha Baig for “X Dekho,” the official anthem of HBL PSL 10. The Pakistan Super League officially described Abrar as making his debut for the PSL anthem, giving him another major platform connected to Pakistan's hugely popular cricket culture. The collaboration was followed by further releases in 2026. Abrar Ul Haq released “Gen Z Rano” on 12 February 2026, featuring Alina Amir. He also released “Mere Pyare Aaqa” on 23 March 2026, showing another side of his musical work through a devotional release. In June 2026, Abrar Ul Haq collaborated with Roach Killa and Dr Zeus on “Husna Di Sarkar,” another contemporary Punjabi release that combined his established vocal style with modern Punjabi production. Humanitarian Work and Sahara for Life Trust Music is only one part of Abrar Ul Haq's public legacy. He is also widely recognized for his humanitarian and philanthropic work as the founder and chairman of SAHARA for Life Trust. The organization focuses on healthcare, education and social services in underserved communities. Its major project is the Sughra Shafi Medical Complex in Narowal, a large hospital established to provide healthcare services to people in a region where access to quality medical care has historically been limited. SAHARA for Life Trust currently describes the hospital as a 600-bed ISO-certified teaching hospital and says millions of patients have received treatment through its services. Abrar Ul Haq's humanitarian work became particularly prominent following the 2005 earthquake in Pakistan, when his organization participated in relief efforts for affected communities. His work through SAHARA has remained an important part of his identity and has earned him recognition both nationally and internationally.
